Email support@opencityrecord.org. Tell us which assistant you were using (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, …), what you asked, and roughly when — that is usually enough for us to find the request in our logs. We aim to reply within two business days.

Connecting an AI assistant

OpenCity works as a connector (an MCP server) at https://mcp.opencityrecord.org/mcp. Add it from your assistant's connector or app settings, then sign in with your OpenCity account when prompted. Step-by-step instructions for each assistant are on the opencityrecord.org/mcp.

Troubleshooting

• Sign-in loops or fails. Remove the OpenCity connector from your assistant and add it again; this clears a stale sign-in. If it still fails, email us the time you tried.
• “No results” for a city. Your account covers the cities shown on your account page. Within those cities, an empty result means no matching record — try a shorter query or a different date range.
• Speaker names are blank. Some accounts receive transcripts without speaker identification, and members of the public and city staff are never named. Your account page shows what your account includes.
• Recent meeting missing. Meetings appear within hours of the city publishing them; votes and decisions follow once the city posts official minutes, which can take weeks.

Where the data comes from

OpenCity indexes public government records: agendas, minutes, packets, and recordings of public meetings that cities and counties publish on their own websites, agenda platforms, and video channels. Every answer cites the meeting or document it came from, with a link back to the record.
